Bboyizm Dance Company

About the Artist

B-boy Crazy Smooth, founder of the Bboyizm Dance Company, has been dancing for over ten years during which time he has come to be known as one of Canada’s top street dancers. Some of his professional experience includes instructing Cirque du Soleil acrobats and performing at the Nancy Jazz Festival in France. In 2006 he was honoured to receive the Most Valuable B-boy award at the annual Kings of NY Competition and was the first B-boy to receive a full grant from the Canadian Arts Council to study in both New York, Philadelphia and Orlando. In 2007 he was a keynote speaker at the United Nations Youth Conference. He is now dedicating himself to carrying on the street dance culture in the world of performing arts with the motto “Dance to Express, Not to Impress”.

Dance goes places where words can't go, somewhere visceral.

People love this artist

Kids really enjoyed the dance presentation...and so did I. [Yvon Soglo] was enigmatic and engaging.  Several of our ELD students (students new to the country/limited English skills) asked questions during the live workshop portion.

WOW! What an incredible artistic performance and passionate talk back sessions with the artist!!! The students truly appreciated the show. I am looking forward to planning it again next year if possible!

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the Bboyizm video with the Q and A with Mellie Mel. It was a great way to learn about music and culture and tie into an interesting french activity. Thanks again for accommodating the virtual environment and here's hoping we can see the group in person sometime!

— Stephanie Cooper, Hanover Public School

Thank you for the amazing Bboyizm performance enjoyed by our school community last month. The students were very engaged and were very animated during the Q&A that happened after the performance.
