Luciano Lu
About the Artist
Educator and performer Luciano Lu (aka Luciano Porto) is as passionate about music as he is about sharing and teaching it. Born and raised in Brazil Luciano has devoted his life to traditional music and dance styles from his home country. Making this wealth of experiences available for Canadian audiences of all ages is Luciano’s primary goal.
Through MASC and the English Language Arts Network (ELAN), he has reached communities from North to South, Eastern Ontario, and Québec. With recent performances at the National Arts Centre, Shenkman Arts Centre, La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins as well as La Fab Centre des Arts, Luciano looks forward to reaching and inspiring new audiences with his teaching and performing work.
The arts are what makes us truly human. It bonds people in expression of emotions and experiences. It brings communities together in gatherings and celebrations. It nurtures the depths of our desire to relate to one another.

Students will develop their musical knowledge and skills through listening to music, manipulating some basic elements of music, and exploring repertoire from a variety of cultures; care for musical instruments understanding of the basic elements of music specified for each grade through listening to, performing, and creating music; Distinguishing between beat and rhythm; Identifying examples of dynamics (the varying degree of volume of sound); Singing music from a variety of cultures; create rhythmic patterns, using a variety of sounds; accompany songs, using appropriate rhythm instruments; identify the tempo; identify the instruments within the percussion family of orchestral instruments.
