About this program
In this vibrant and joyful piece, students are introduced to Bella Bowes’ quirky and wonderful imaginary world – including her love of dogs! Bella is a neurodiverse artist who has been a professional dancer and teacher of children for the past sixteen years.
In Gotta Dance – A New Step Every Day, dancers demonstrate how they remain resilient and, in Bella’s words, ‘Happy Wappy’ during times of hardship. The work is Pandemic Art. Through comedic & percussive movements, this work shows that there may well be a happy doggie living in all of us, just waiting to be set free!
This is the first work Bella has directed through Propeller’s Emerging Choreographer program for persons with disability.
Following the performance, students will have an opportunity to ask questions about the creative process and the movements chosen for the work, as well as learn a short excerpt from the piece.
